In the Sectionals of the IHSA East Aurora Sectional, Plainfield East and West Aurora squared off and in the early going, Plainfield East dominated the inside and fastbreak but West Aurora hung in there and pulled to within four at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started off slow with the teams scoring a combined total of 7 points in the first five minutes before Plainfield East closed the half on a 6-0 run to lead 24-17. Plainfield East came out firing in the third quarter, jumping out to a 6-1 run and after a time out to settle the troops, West Aurora came back with a 10-3 run to end the quarter and pull to within five. The fourth quarter started with the momentum carrying West Aurora to a two point lead early. The middle part of the quarter featured back and forth fast paced basketball with each team seemingly trading baskets each and every offensive trip. In the final two minutes, both teams remained even and we headed to overtime with the score knotted up at 43. Overtime started with the teams trading buckets on the first possession followed by tight grind it out defense and you knew right then that every opportunity to score must be made and West Aurora did just that by playing great tough defense, hitting their free throws and they come away with the win over Plainfield East with the Final Score of 58-53.
